Converting salary to hourly takes three steps: take your gross salary, find your yearly hours (2,080 for full-time) and divide. A $50,000 salary equals $24.04 an hour, $961.54 a week or $4,166.67 a month.

Converting an annual salary to an hourly wage takes three steps: take your gross salary, work out your yearly hours, and divide. The chart below covers common 2026 salaries from $30,000 to $150,000 with hourly, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly figures.

Step 1 — Start with your gross salary

Use the annual salary before taxes and deductions — the number on your offer letter or W-2 Box 1 plus pre-tax contributions. Bonuses and commissions can be added if they are reliable.

Step 2 — Work out your yearly hours

Multiply weekly hours by weeks paid. Full-time is 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours. A 37.5-hour week is 1,950 hours; a 32-hour week is 1,664 hours. If you take two unpaid weeks off, use 50 weeks.

Step 3 — Divide salary by hours

Hourly wage = Gross annual salary ÷ Yearly hours

Example: $50,000 ÷ 2,080 = $24.04 per hour. Weekly pay is salary ÷ 52 ($961.54), bi-weekly is ÷ 26 ($1,923.08) and monthly is ÷ 12 ($4,166.67).

Gross hourly vs net hourly

The chart shows gross pay. After federal income tax, 7.65% FICA and any state tax, most workers keep about 70–85% of it. A single filer on $50,000 in a no-income-tax state takes home roughly $41,500 a year — about $19.95 per hour net. Run your state in the paycheck calculator for an exact figure.
